About the List of Windows Time Zones and Their Time Zone IDs Further Down on This Web Page
Quagensia® N Edition has excellent support for working with time zone information and converting date and time values between time zones.
Dates and times can be converted between time zones using the no-code functions in the “More Expressions >> Dates and Times >> Date and Time >> Time Zones” subfolder of the context menu that appears when you click on a location where a date and time value is allowed.
Time zones are easy to work with in Quagensia N Edition using drop-down lists of the time zones that are present in your installation of Microsoft Windows. You can create an Input Parameter or Internal Variable in your Quagensia N Edition Strategy of the “List of Choices” Type named “Time Zone Built Into Microsoft Windows”, select a default time zone from the drop-down list, and use the Input Parameter or Internal Variable like you would use any other variable.
Note that while an input parameter of Type “Time Zone Built Into Microsoft Windows” will have a drop-down list of the full names and “Time Zone IDs” of the time zones that are present in your installation of Microsoft Windows with items like “(UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) (ID: Central Standard Time)”, the input parameter will appear in the NinjaTrader® user interface not as a drop-down list but instead as a smaller piece of text containing just the Time Zone ID, like “Central Standard Time” (without the double quote characters on the left and right side of the Time Zone ID), and users will need to copy and paste a piece of text that represents a “Time Zone ID” into the input parameter in order to set a strategy’s time zone input parameter to a valid time zone that differs from the default time zone to which the Input Parameter was set from within Quagensia N Edition.
Here is a list of the full names and Time Zone IDs from a Microsoft Windows machine. You can copy and paste the text from the “Time Zone ID (To Copy and Paste Into NinjaTrader)” column of the table below into the time zone input parameter’s text box in the NinjaTrader® user interface to set a strategy’s time zone input parameter to the desired time zone. Note that while each Microsoft Windows machine can technically have a slightly different list of time zones, it is unlikely that your Microsoft Windows machine will have many differences from the list below, and any differences are unlikely to be for time zones of regions with the major financial exchanges like futures, stock, and cryptocurrency exchanges whose instruments (i.e. symbols) most traders using the NinjaTrader Desktop platform trade through the platform.
