To submit a buy or sell order from a Quagensia® Strategy or Quagensia® Function, or to set up money management rules that submit orders when certain conditions become true while your strategy is managing an open position, you need to add an action to your trading logic.
Many actions that submit orders are included in all editions of the Quagensia® Desktop Application.
These actions are located in both the “Submit an Order” folder and the “Money Management” folder of the context menu that appears when you click anywhere on your Quagensia Algo’s workspace where one or more of the actions in the these two context menu folders are allowed.
In Quagensia® T Edition, the actions in both the “Submit an Order” folder and the “Money Management” folder are valid in all of the same locations, which are in either the “When Bar Updates” section of a Quagensia T Edition strategy or the “Function Logic” section of some Quagensia T Edition functions.
In Quagensia® N Edition, the actions in the “Money Management” folder are also valid in the “Money Management (Protective Stops And Profit Targets)” section of Quagensia N Edition strategies.
Note that “submitting an order” in a trading platform doesn’t necessarily mean that an order is submitted to a broker, exchange, or other type of matching engine that represents a live market. For instance, in any kind of market simulation, such as a backtest, optimization, walk-forward optimization, or when you run your strategy on live data but in some kind of “simulation” mode, the orders you submit go to some kind of a simulator. Even when you are running your trading strategy on a real-money account in real-time, i.e. not in any kind of simulation mode, what happens when an order is submitted from a trading strategy’s executing code depends a lot on the platform, your user preferences, the type of order, if you already have a position in the given financial instrument that is considered managed by the strategy, and much, much more.
Both Quagensia® N Edition (For NinjaTrader®) and Quagensia® T Edition (For TradeStation®) have many no-code “Submit an Order” Actions that enable traders to add trading logic to their point-and-click Quagensia Strategies for NinjaTrader® and TradeStation® and that enable traders with an intermediate-level understanding of Quagensia to add trading logic to their own custom Quagensia Functions.
These no-code actions are listed below with links to their help pages. Each action is displayed in the same subfolder in which you can find it in the Quagensia Desktop Application’s Algo Explorer and in the context menu that appears when you click on a location on your Quagensia Algo’s workspace where the action is allowed to be used.
The next section lists the “Submit an Order” Actions built into Quagensia N Edition. You can also scroll down to the list of “Submit an Order” Actions built into Quagensia T Edition further down on this page.
