FAQ: “Does anyone but me have access to the strategies I create with the Quagensia Desktop Application?” (Answer: No)
Short answer: Absolutely not! Your trading strategies are private to you. They stay on your computer.
Long answer: Absolutely not! Only you have access to anything you do or create. Unlike many “web applications” in the trading industry where your trading strategies are saved on their servers and are potentially at risk of a rogue IT employee or rogue company owner stealing them, Quagensia N & T Editions are Microsoft Windows applications that run on your computer where you personally choose to install the applications and store the strategies you create in them as simple files on your computer as well. When you save a Quagensia N or T Edition Strategy file, by default it is saved to a Windows folder on your machine which is called the “My Algos” folder. On your machine, this folder will likely be something like “C:\Users\<your Windows user name>\Documents\Quagensia\Quagensia_N\My_Algos” for Quagensia N Edition or “C:\Users\<your Windows user name>\Documents\Quagensia\Quagensia_T\My_Algos” for Quagensia T Edition.
The only ways that anyone other than you would ever have access to the Quagensia N or T Edition Strategies you create are if they have access to where you save or copy the files, or if you email the files or otherwise share them online. For instance, if you intentionally share a strategy on our Discord, email the strategy file to someone, copy the file to a shared cloud drive that someone else has access to, or intentionally share the file in any other way, then other people will be able to see the strategy. And of course if someone has physical access to your computer or if someone hacks into your network and gets access to your computer’s files remotely, etc., then someone other than you will have access to your strategies.
Speaking of keeping your strategies private, Quagensia Functions allow you to work with programmers on your Quagensia Strategy without them seeing any part of your Quagensia Strategy’s trading logic except the code they created based on your specifications. For example, you can pay a programmer to write 500 lines of code inside of a function written in TradeStation®’s EasyLanguage® programming language or NinjaTrader®’s NinjaScript® programming language that returns a Boolean (true or false) to indicate if an extremely complicated chart pattern has occurred. The programmer can then email you that code with instructions on how to quickly and easily get it into the trading platform. Then either you or the programmer can quickly and easily create a very simple Quagensia Function that uses the function containing the 500 lines of code. You can use that Quagensia Function visually and codelessly with just two clicks on your Quagensia Algo’s workspace. This can all be done without the programmer having access to any of your trading logic other than the chart pattern that they programmed, and without the need for you to program anything yourself.
Is summary, nobody at Quagensia, Inc. has any access to your strategies, and Quagensia N & T Editions even make it easy for you to keep your trading secrets when working with programmers on the same strategy.
