You can draw lines, shapes, and text on a chart to which a strategy is attached by adding a drawing action to your Quagensia® Strategy or Quagensia® Function.
Support for drawing on charts from within strategy code varies greatly between trading platforms, so the kinds of things you can draw on a chart from within a Quagensia Strategy or Quagensia Function also varies greatly based on the edition of Quagensia.
The performance impact of drawing thousands or even hundreds of thousands of items on a single chart from within a strategy on the trading platform’s chart’s user interface also varies greatly between trading platforms. Keep this in mind if you backtest a strategy or apply it to a chart with real-time market data, you see many drawn items on the chart, and the chart seems less responsive than usual when you interact with it, such as when you scroll horizontally through all the price bars on the chart.
Drawing actions are located in the “Draw Something” folder of the context menu that appears when you click anywhere on your Quagensia Algo’s workspace where one or more of the actions in the “Draw Something” context menu folder are allowed.
Drawing actions are valid in the “When Bar Updates” section of a Quagensia Strategy and the “Function Logic” section of some Quagensia Functions.
Both Quagensia® N Edition (For NinjaTrader®) and Quagensia® T Edition (For TradeStation®) have many no-code “Draw Something” Actions that enable traders to add trading logic to their point-and-click Quagensia Strategies for NinjaTrader® and TradeStation® and that enable traders with an intermediate-level understanding of Quagensia to add trading logic to their own custom Quagensia Functions.
These no-code actions are listed below with links to their help pages. Each action is displayed in the same subfolder in which you can find it in the Quagensia Desktop Application’s Algo Explorer and in the context menu that appears when you click on a location on your Quagensia Algo’s workspace where the action is allowed to be used.
The next section lists the “Draw Something” Actions built into Quagensia N Edition. You can also scroll down to the list of “Draw Something” Actions built into Quagensia T Edition further down on this page.
